How FamPlan Works

Set up your family once. Run your week from one screen.

FamPlan combines calendar coordination, shared family events, and goals/rewards for kids into one system that both parents can trust.

Step 1

Connect your Google account

Sign in with Google so FamPlan can securely read and sync your selected calendars. We only request calendar scopes needed for planning.

Step 2

Create your family

Add family members, set parent vs child roles, and invite your spouse so both parents manage one shared family space.

Step 3

Link one calendar per person

Map each person to their own Google calendar. This keeps events organized by individual and avoids mixed personal schedules.

Step 4

Set your all-family calendar

Choose one shared calendar for events everyone attends. FamPlan displays those events as family-wide context across all columns.

Step 5

Add goals and rewards for kids

Create recurring tasks, assign star values, and let parents approve completions before stars are awarded toward rewards.

Day View Philosophy

  • Parents appear first, then kids, for practical planning order.
  • Family-wide events show once across columns, not duplicated by person.
  • All-day events render in a dedicated row above timed events.
  • Goals appear at the top so responsibilities are visible before schedule details.

Goals & Rewards Flow

  • Parents create goals with star values and reward thresholds.
  • Kids complete tasks and submit them for review.
  • Parents approve completions to award stars.
  • Progress is visible in daily planning columns and person detail pages.

Frequently asked questions

Why use separate calendars for each person?

Separate calendars are the backbone of clean family scheduling. They allow accurate per-person columns and prevent event ownership confusion.

Can both parents see all linked calendars?

Yes. FamPlan reads shared family calendars through the family owner connection and keeps visibility consistent for both parents.

How often are events refreshed?

FamPlan uses cached reads for speed and refreshes in the background so screens stay fast while updates still arrive quickly.

Do kids need an email account?

No. Kids can be represented as family members with linked calendars and goals even if they do not log in to FamPlan directly.
